Parade Day

Some band members on the floatThe Flat Rock Irregulars played as part of the Rail Fest float in the 2012 Nebraskaland Days parade Saturday, Jun 16th. We had a great time playing Old Dun Cow, The Bonnie Ship the Diamond, and The Hills of Connemara. We even rediscovered some old jokes. Maggi remembered several of the old Elephant jocks that we long ago forgotten. Strange what baking in the sun for a few hour will do to you. We had fun being part of the float and seeing all the people who lined the street.

We dressed in costumes helping to portray the role of the rail road in forming the West. Rail Fest will join with the Union Pacific Rail Road to celebrate the UP’s 150 anniversary.

Thanks to all our fans for waving to us from the parade route. We will perform at the outdoor market scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 23 at the Garden Glove Garden Center, 1800 E. 12th. We will be singing some of our favorite Irish tunes. I understand that the Gospel Lites will also be performing to celebrate the opening of the new outdoor market. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Thanks to Ann for sharing these pictures.)

Update

Well, we have been neglecting the website.  Nothing since September.  We are booked to play for the downtown Christmas parade, weather and temperatures permitting – that will be on Thursday, December 8th from 5-6 pm.  Then we have been asked to play for the Harvest Christian Christmas Dinner on Friday, December 9th at their NW campus.  We will share the entertainment again with Ray Mullen.  The dinner is from 2-6 pm.  So far that is all we have going in December.  We have one last gig in November at Linden Court on Friday, November 25th at 2:30 pm.
